The Hub, Toro and the Trenches Discord

Read the Hub on a computer or a phone, claim the day's reward and quest chests, ask Toro what it can answer, and join the Trenches Discord.

The Bull and the Trencher sharing a drink by a campfire

The Hub is the page that sums up your paper account, your next level and your battles. This guide shows how to read it, claim your rewards and get help from Toro, the AI coach, and the Trenches Discord. All money here is paper cash, practice money with no real value.

What the Hub shows on a computer

Open Hub in the sidebar. Across the top:

  • Paper equity: what your paper account is worth now.
  • All time profit: your equity minus every paper dollar ever added, from your starting cash to lesson cash.
  • In positions: the part sitting in open trades.
  • Trade: opens the Trenches board, the page of new memecoins.

Say you started with $10,000 and earned $500 of paper cash from lessons. If your account is worth $10,800, All time profit reads +$300.00, not +$800.00. Paper cash you earn counts as money added, never as profit.

On the left, Markets lists six markets, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Nvidia and Apple. Each row shows Price, 24h change and a small chart of the last day. Click a row to open its trading page.

Positions lists your open paper positions in every market, with Value, P&L (profit or loss) and Return (the P&L as a percent). The card shows five; the rest are under Profile, then Portfolio. Your paper account: cash, positions and profit reads each figure.

On the right, Learning shows your next level on the road, the Academy's path of lessons, such as Unit 1, level 5 of 8. Under it: how many questions the level has, the paper cash it pays, and Start.

Battles shows your Battle rating and class, with the points to the next class and Play a battle. Battles, Ranks and the weekly leagues explains them. The Trenches Discord card sits at the foot.

Quests and the day's reward live on Quests, explained below.

What the Hub shows on a phone

Tap Hub in the dock, the tab row at the bottom, to open the road. Then tap the house at the top, labeled Day streak. Your day streak is the days in a row you have finished a level or a review. Its main cards, from the top:

  1. Paper portfolio: your practice balance and how it moved since the last 8 PM, your local time. That move counts trading only, never paper cash you are given.
  2. When you have something to claim, a card says so: Your $100 is ready, or chests to open.
  3. Learning streak: your streak, your best, the last seven days drawn like a price chart, the day's reward, and Calendar, goals & all 30 rewards.
  4. Earn more: Get free on the +$100 paper card adds $100 of paper cash, up to 5 times an hour, and the Quests row.
  5. Practice: Journal keeps every paper trade and note, and Coach opens Toro.
  6. The Trenches Discord row, near the foot.

A streak freeze saves your streak on a day you miss, and the next day the card says so: "A freeze kept your 12-day streak yesterday." You start with 2 and hold up to 2; Elite, the paid membership, holds 3. You earn one every 7 days in a row (7, 14, 21 and so on). The day's reward also gives one twice in every 30 days of a streak.

The Hub ends on one line: "Paper cash is practice money for the simulator. It cannot be withdrawn or exchanged."

Quests, chests and the day's reward

Quests are small tasks, and every quest pays a chest: a reward you open for paper cash and extras. Open Quests in the sidebar on a computer, or the Quests row in Earn more on a phone.

Three daily quests arrive at your local midnight. In quests, a lesson means a level on the road.

  1. Finish a lesson or a review.
  2. A bigger learning quest that changes daily, such as new lessons or answers right on the first try.
  3. A trade, a battle or a note: Make a paper trade, Play a battle to the end, or on a phone, Write 20 characters in your journal. A computer has no journal, so there the journal quest becomes Make a paper trade.

Each pays a chest, and finishing all three adds one more. Learning week asks for a lesson or a review on 3 different days, Monday to Sunday, and pays a chest too. The month's challenge, all 3 daily quests on 20 days of the month, pays that month's badge on your profile.

A finished quest's chest opens right on its row. On a computer the row says Done; click it to open the chest. On a phone, tap Open.

Among the extras, a Hint Token pays for a lesson hint, and Double Tape doubles the paper cash of your next new lesson. On the website, rewards never add energy, which new questions use: you get 30 a day.

The day's reward opens once you finish a level or a review that day. Its day is your streak day, so if your streak ends, it starts again at Day 1. On a computer, its line sits under Daily quests, such as Day 1 reward ready: $100 paper, with Claim $100 beside it. On a phone, the Hub's top card has it.

In the first 30 days of a streak, it climbs each week from $100 a day to $250. Some milestone days pay more and add a chest.

Easy to mix up: the day's reward and quest chests. The reward is one claim a day; each quest you finish pays its own chest.

Ask Toro, your AI coach

Toro, the green bull, is your AI coach: a chat helper for questions about trading and the app. On a computer, Ask Toro sits at the bottom of the sidebar on every learning and trading page, and beside every lesson question. On a phone, tap Coach on the Hub, or Ranks, then Coach. Both open Toro's page.

On a computer:

  1. Click Ask Toro. A panel opens beside the page.
  2. Pick one of the three questions under About this page, such as How do streaks and freezes work? on the Hub. Or type your own.
  3. The first time, the button reads Agree and send. The line under the box says what Toro shares with Anthropic, the company whose AI, Claude, runs Toro. That is your message, the page you are on and a summary of your paper trades and progress.
  4. Read the reply. Toro answers from the Academy's lessons and links the one that teaches the idea.

In a lesson, Ask Toro puts the question you are on in its box.

A free account has 10 questions a month. They come back each month, by UTC, the world's standard clock. A completed reply uses one; a failed reply uses none.

Toro stays with practice. Asked about real money, it says Trenches is for practice and that it does not help with real money accounts. Replies can be wrong, so check the reasoning.

What is the Trenches Discord?

Discord is a chat app where groups talk in rooms. Trenches has no chat of its own, so the Trenches Discord is where learners talk. Its card says: "Talk, make friends, share paper trades, and say what the lessons need."

Find it on the Hub (the Trenches Discord card on a computer, the row on a phone) and in Settings under Community. A line under a battle's result links it too, and on a computer, so does the end of a level. Join opens the Trenches Discord in a new tab.

Where you see Connect Discord instead (Connect on a phone), it joins you and links your two accounts. Approve it on Discord's page, and the Trenches bot adds you to the server, Discord's word for a community. Unlink in Settings undoes the link.

Rooms cover memecoins, stocks, forex, paper trades, battles, lesson help and lesson feedback. In lesson feedback, name the lesson and say what was unclear. Found a bug, a problem or an idea? Email trading@trenches.academy.

The rules: be kind, no financial advice, no referral or promo links, and nobody tells anyone to start trading for real.

Before you post a screenshot, hide your balances. On a computer, click your avatar, your character picture at the right of the top strip, and turn on Blur balances. On a phone, the eye beside your balance on the Trade tab hides it there, but not on the Hub.
